Looking for a Gong alternative

Gong is a serious product built for a specific motion: B2B deal cycles with several stakeholders, long pipelines, and a forecast to defend. If that isn't your floor, most of what you'd pay for goes unused. Here's how to tell which situation you're in.

Built for any team that sells on the phone

Two different sales motions
Gong

Revenue organisations running multi-stakeholder B2B deals: SDR and AE teams, pipeline reviews, forecast calls, and deal inspection across a long sales cycle. Gong's centre of gravity is the deal and the seller working it.

Callix

Teams whose revenue arrives over the phone in high volume and short cycles: front desks, reception, admissions, brokers, agents, and contact centres. The unit of work is the call itself, and what gets extracted from it is yours to define: your questions become your columns, and the dashboard is laid out around them.

The seat problem

A ten-person team pays for fifteen chairs.

Seat-priced platforms with a seat minimum charge the same whether the licence is used or not, and seats can normally be added mid-term but not given back until renewal. Charging per analysed hour means the bill tracks the calls you actually made.

you pay for 15 either way010 people20 people30 peoplecost
Illustrative shapes, not quoted prices: a seat-minimum contract has a floor you pay under regardless of headcount, while an hourly rate starts where your call volume starts. Check any vendor's current terms before budgeting.
When they're the better choice

Gong is the better buy if this is you.

We would rather lose this one honestly than win it and be wrong in month three.

  • Your deals involve several stakeholders over weeks or months, and the hard question is which opportunities are real.
  • You need forecasting and deal inspection as first-class features, not call review.
  • Your team already lives in Gong and the switching cost outweighs anything on this page.
  • Your calls are mostly scheduled video meetings rather than inbound phone traffic.

We'd rather lose the demo than the hour after it.

Deal-shaped versus call-shaped
What gets reviewed
Gong

Built around sellers and the deals they own, so review naturally follows the pipeline.

Callix

Built around call volume: every recording is transcribed and scored, including the calls attached to no deal, no CRM record, and no named rep.

Who the buyer is
Gong

Usually a VP of Sales or RevOps with a formal sales process to enforce.

Callix

Usually whoever owns the phone: a practice manager, an agency principal, a head of operations. Often nobody has ever measured these calls before.

What a 'missed' call means
Gong

A deal slipping a stage or going dark.

Callix

An enquiry that rang, got handled badly, and never came back. There's no pipeline record of it, which is exactly why it goes uncounted.

What you can change
GongPreset model

Ships with a well-developed model of what a good B2B sales conversation looks like, tuned to that motion.

CallixYours to define

You define what gets pulled out of every call. Ask your own questions, turn them into columns across the whole call table, set the scoring criteria and the weight each carries, then build the dashboard around the columns you actually use. Sector rubric packs on Growth and Scale; a rubric and fields built around your own process on Custom.

What you're charged for
GongPer seat, annually

Priced per seat on an annual contract, and the market reports a seat minimum below which you cannot buy. Seats can normally be added mid-term but not reduced until renewal. Check their current terms; the structure has been stable for years even as the numbers move.

CallixPer hour analysed

You pay a published monthly base with analysed hours included, then a flat rate per hour after that. Scale includes unlimited users, so a receptionist who needs to see her own scores is not a licence decision. A ten-person team pays for ten people's calls, not for fifteen chairs.

Where it runs
Gong

An established platform with a large integration surface across the B2B sales stack.

Callix

Built on a transcription engine already running in 50+ languages, and deployable on your own infrastructure on the Custom plan.

Reviewed August 2026. We describe what each product is built for rather than publishing a feature table, because those are wrong within weeks and the ✗ column is always the part that's wrong. Check current specifics on each vendor's own site.

What you get with us

Enterprise-grade call analysis, without the enterprise contract.

Gong earned its position with revenue teams that have a RevOps function to run it. Callix puts the same depth of analysis in the hands of a ten-person sales floor, an agency, or the owner who still answers the phone on Saturdays.

Every minute of every call, scored

Not a sample, not the calls someone flagged. Every recording is transcribed and graded against your criteria, minute by minute, including the ones with no CRM record and no named rep. A busy Monday gets the same scrutiny as a quiet Thursday.

You write the scorecard

Your questions become your columns. Set the criteria a call is judged on, weight each one by how much it matters to your revenue, and rebuild the dashboard around what you actually look at. If you change how you sell in March, you change the scorecard in March, not at renewal.

A coaching report after every single call

Each call comes back with what went well, what was missed, the objection that went unanswered, and the specific line to use next time. If your goal is coaching a sales team rather than inspecting a forecast, this is the whole product.

Pay for the hours you analyse

A published monthly base with hours included, then a flat rate per hour after. No seat minimum to clear before you can buy, and unlimited users on Scale, so the receptionist who wants to see her own scores is not a budget conversation.

Built for teams without a RevOps department

SMBs, agencies, in-house marketing teams, and owner-operators run Callix themselves. There is no implementation project and no analyst in the middle: you connect the calls, name what good sounds like, and read the queue the next morning.

See it on your own calls

Bring a recording you already have. We'll score it live.

What you'd actually be looking at

No pipeline required.

Gong organises around the deal and the seller. This organises around the call: every recording scored, including the hundreds attached to no opportunity, no CRM record, and no named rep.

Executive summary

Adam Rossi stands out as the top performer, converting a warm lead with a perfect 10 coordinator score and no objections, while Karim Aziz also excelled by handling four warm leads. The biggest gap is Javier Morales, who had a high lead quality score of 7 but received only a 5 from Nadia Toure. Cost and pricing concerns dominate as the most common objection theme, highlighting a need for clearer upfront pricing communication.

Where Callix fits

Built for the teams the enterprise tools price out.

SMBs

Five to fifty people, revenue arriving over the phone, and nobody with a spare afternoon to review calls by hand.

Agencies

Prove the leads you sent were real, and show a client exactly where their front desk lost the ones that weren't.

In-house marketing

You already know which campaigns ring the phone. This is the half of the funnel that starts after someone picks up.

Business owners

One login, plain-language scores, and the calls worth listening to picked out for you. No analyst in the middle.

Questions worth asking

Take these to both demos. Including us.

  1. 1What percentage of our calls will actually be reviewed, and what happens to the ones with no CRM record?
  2. 2Who on our team has to change how they work for this to produce anything?
  3. 3Can we define what gets extracted from a call ourselves, add our own columns, and lay the dashboard out our way, or do we take the model as shipped?
  4. 4How long from the call ending to a manager being able to act on it?
  5. 5What happens to our recordings and transcripts: retention, deletion, and whether they train anyone's model.
  6. 6What does this cost at our real volume next year, not our volume today?

Common questions

Questions we get asked.

Not in most cases, and we'd rather say so. Gong is built for multi-stakeholder B2B deal cycles with forecasting and deal inspection at the centre. Callix is built for teams whose revenue comes in over the phone in volume, where the question is what happened on the call rather than what stage the opportunity is at. Teams running long enterprise deals are usually better served by Gong.

Most of it, and this is the part worth testing on a demo. You set the criteria a call is judged on and the weight each one carries, and any question you want answered about every call becomes a column in the call table that you can filter, sort, and export by. Starter ships with our standard rubric (intent, fit, budget signal, objection handling); Growth and Scale add sector rubric packs tuned to how your industry sells; Custom means we build the criteria and fields around your own process. Ask us to walk through one live on the call.

Because those tables go stale within weeks and the ✗ column is usually wrong by the time anyone reads it. Both products ship constantly. We'd rather describe who each tool is designed for, which doesn't change, and let you check current features on each vendor's own site.

We don't have a reliable public number to quote and we're not going to guess at someone else's contract terms. Ask both vendors for a quote at your actual call volume, and ask what it looks like a year from now.
